Remington 700 VLS – A Truly Versatile and Precision Rifle

The Remington 700 is one of the most popular and iconic firearms available on the market today. It is also one of the oldest, having been in production since 1962. The Remington 700 VLS (“Varmint/Long-Range Sporter”) rifle is the latest in a long line of Remington 700s and, as the name suggests, is designed for varmint hunting at long distances and other one-shot missions.

The Remington 700 VLS is chambered in the incredibly popular .223 Remington and .308 Winchester cartridges, making it an incredibly versatile and precise long-range rifle. Its aesthetics are somewhat traditional, featuring a classic walnut stock design, although with the addition of a few modern features like a full-bellied forend and laser-etched checkering. The overall length is 42.5 inches, and the weight is 8.5 pounds.

The Remington 700 VLS is very well-made and features top-notch craftsmanship. The barrel is 24”, match-grade, stainless steel made by Remington. It is free-floated, meaning it is not in contact with the forend or the stock, and this allows it to remain straight and true during firing and increases accuracy. The rifling of the barrel is five-groove rifling, with a twist rate of one turn in 12 inches. This is the same twist rate used for many premium match-grade barrels. The trigger is a three-position adjustable trigger and is adjustable to fit the shooter’s preference.

The stock is made of premium walnut and features laser-etched checkering. It has a full-length beavertail forend with checkering on the bottom and sides. It also has an ergonomic grip and a slightly raised cheek piece for a better cheek weld. Its overall ergonomics are very comfortable and allow the shooter to take a natural shooting position without feeling cramped.

The Remington 700 VLS is an incredibly accurate rifle and is capable of shooting at 1/2-minute-of-angle (MOA) groups at 100 yards when used with quality ammunition. This accuracy is due to the match-grade barrel, adjustable trigger, free-floating barrel, and ergonomic stock design.

The Remington 700 VLS is a great choice for any shooter looking for an incredibly accurate and versatile rifle. It is an excellent choice for long-range shooting and varmint hunting, and the adjustable trigger and ergonomic stock make it a great choice for precision shooting. It also looks great and features Remington’s classic walnut stock design. It is an incredibly well-made rifle and is sure to become a common sight at the range and to bring home trophies from the field.
