SIG SAUER CROSS is one of the newest multi-caliber precision rifles from SIG Sauer. This rifle is designed to offer precision accuracy and power in a lightweight package. It is designed to be used in both long range shooting competitions and for tactical applications. The rifle is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 Win, and has a 24-inch threaded barrel. The rifle can be outfitted with a variety of optics and accessories and is more than capable of making accurate shots well out past 1000 yards.
When I first saw the SIG SAUER CROSS rifle, I was admittedly skeptical. I had traditionally been a big fan of bolt-action guns and felt that gas guns just couldn't compete. After getting to know the gun, however, I was quickly won over by the design, high quality of construction, and precision of the CROSS.
The fit and finish of the CROSS rifle is outstanding. The metal finish is a beautiful matte black and all of the components have been machined and finished to very high levels of quality. The stock is adjustable and features several different positions to customize the fit and feel of the rifle to the shooter. The bolt handle is located in the same place as a traditional bolt-action rifle, but the operation of the action is smoother and more efficient than that of a traditional rifle.
The accuracy of the CROSS is impressive. Out of the box, the rifle was able to produce consistent sub-MOA groups with match grade ammunition. With a low-power scope the rifle was impressive up to around 400 yards, but to really get the most out of the gun I opted to use a higher end scope. With a good quality scope the rifle was easily able to print sub-MOA groups out past 1000 yards. The trigger on the CROSS is adjustable and was very crisp with hardly any creep or over-travel.
The other great thing about the CROSS is the modularity of the gun. The rifle comes standard with a folding stock, but it also can be configured with a fixed stock, or even a chassis-style stock with a variety of adjustable parts. The top rail is also designed to accept a variety of different optics, and due to the design of the gun it can be configured to use a variety of different magazine formats.
For carry and transport, the CROSS is well balanced and has an overall lightweight. The barrel is only 24-inches which allows for efficient mobility in the field. With the folding stock it measures in at just over 37-inches and with the fixed stock it is just over 40-inches in total length.
Overall, the SIG SAUER CROSS is an impressive rifle. It offers precision accuracy and power in a lightweight package that can be customized to the shooter’s preferences. The modularity of the rifle is also a great feature that offers tons of different configurations and customization options. The fit and finish of the rifle is excellent and the overall performance of the rifle is outstanding. If you are looking for a precision rifle that you can take to the range or into the field for long range shooting, then the CROSS from SIG SAUER is definitely worth a look.
