RIFLE

The Bergara B-14 HMR Rifle is a combination of modern engineering and traditional craftsmanship that sets a new standard in the hunting rifle market. Billed as a hybrid long-range/tactical rifle, the Bergara B-14 HMR combines all the features you need for precision shooting and quick follow-up shots in the field.

My first impression was that this is a rifle that was built with great attention to detail. The Bergara B-14 HMR Rifle uses the Bergara 416 stainless steel barrel, which is known for its accuracy and corrosion resistance. The barreled action is held to the stock via a Bergara's patented Bergara HMR stock. The stock is made from a polymer/fiberglass composite that not only looks great but provides superior stability and strength over more traditional wooden stocks.

The Bergara B-14 HMR’s bolt-action system ensures smooth operation and dependable performance. The action is machined from a single billet of high-grade steel for improved strength and longevity. The action utilizes an abbreviated 60-degree bolt throw that ensures smooth cycling and a short overall length for easier manipulation in field conditions.

The Bergara B-14 HMR Rifle uses a smooth-feeding polymer AICS magazine that feeds cartridges reliably and securely without requiring a lot of force. The detachable magazine features an improved retention system that ensures your rounds stay in the magazine during field use and allows you to quickly reload with a fresh magazine without having to cycle it through the action.

When I picked up the Bergara B-14 HMR, I was immediately impressed with how lightweight and balanced it feels in the hands. At just 7.2 pounds, the B-14 HMR has the ideal mix of weight and balance for great offhand accuracy and quick follow-up shots while hunting. The stock features a crisp rubber butt pad and a palm swell on the grip for improved ergonomics and increased control.

The Bergara B-14 HMR Rifle comes with an adjustable trigger that allows you to fine-tune the trigger pull weight and feel to your liking. The TriggerTech trigger has a very clean, crisp break with minimal take-up and overtravel. This adjustable trigger gives you the ability to customize your trigger pull as you see fit without having to replace the factory trigger.

The Bergara B-14 HMR Rifle I tested was chambered in the .308 Win caliber, which is a very popular hunting round that provides excellent downrange performance and can be loaded with a variety of different bullet weights for various hunting applications. The rifle was very accurate and I found the rifle to be well-fitted and accurate at ranges past 100 yards.

The Bergara B-14 HMR is a great example of modern rifle-building that pays attention to every last detail. The combination of quality materials, advanced manufacturing techniques, and a well-thought-out design make this a rifle that will just get better with use. The Bergara B-14 HMR is an excellent choice for shooters who want a rugged and reliable hunting rifle that can handle everything from close-up shots to extreme long-range accuracy. It’s well-built, accurate, reliable, and reasonably priced — a combination that’s hard to beat.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  1. It has adjustable trigger, picatinny rail and buttstock spacers, giving you the opportunity to customize the rifle to suit you.
  1. It is an incredibly accurate rifle and its fluted barrel allows for a fast spin rate that promotes accuracy and decreases recoil.
  1. It is incredibly well built and its Cerakote coating provides great corrosion and wear resistance.

Cons:

  1. It is an expensive and high-end rifle and as such not something most people can afford.
  1. Its picatinny rail and buttstock spacers make the rifle harder to store or carry.
  1. Its lack of features means that it doesn’t really excel in certain areas like long-range shooting or hunting.

Who Should Buy

The BERGARA B-14 HMR is an excellent choice for versatile hunting in wooded areas and even mountainous terrain. It is designed for long-range shooters, enthusiasts, precision shooters, and big-game hunters. Because of its long-range capabilities, it would not be the best choice for those looking for a self-defense or home defense weapon.
