I recently had the pleasure of testing the Star BM9 pistol which is the latest offering from Star Firearms. The company itself has been in existence since 1905 and is based in Barcelona Spain. They have a long history of producing high-quality, reliable weapons and this pistol is no exception.

Upon taking the BM9 from the box and removing it from the plastic case, my initial thoughts were that the gun felt sturdy and solid. The finish is a matte black with a few accents and some artwork on the slide. It feels comfortable in the hand, with no sharp edges or strange curves. Put on a bit of weight which reassures me of its quality craftsmanship. It features low profile 3-dot combat sights and one eight round magazine in the package.

When it comes to field stripping the BM9, it is relatively easy to do. All that is necessary to do is disengage the slide stop lever on the left side, then lock the slide to the rear and pull straight down on the slide release. After this, you will need to tilt the barrel down and away from the frame of the gun. From there, you can release the recoil spring and the barrel will easily come out of the slide.

The trigger on this gun is good and I found it consistent across all shots. There is a slight take-up before the shot breaks and the reset is nice and crisp. The overall size of the gun is small, and I found it easy to conceal. In fact, it easily fits into most standard holsters. However, I found the gun to be a bit too small for larger hands when firing.

Overall, the Star BM9 is a very nice gun. It has a decent trigger pull, is solid and well-built, and is an overall pleasure to shoot. The size is small enough to fit just about anywhere, making it perfect for both concealed carry and range use. The price is also very affordable, especially considering the quality of the gun. If you are looking for an affordable, reliable pistol, then the BM9 is definitely worth looking into.
