Smith & Wesson M&P45 - A Review of a Personal Favorite Handgun

At first glance, the Smith & Wesson M&P45 is a humble looking handgun. Sleek and black, it rests confidently on the hip as a time-tested favorite of gun aficionados and casual shooters alike. The M&P45 has been around for more than a dozen years, and over that time, has gained the reputation of being one of the most reliable, accurate, and rugged handguns in its class. Whether you are a competitive shooter looking for a reliable pistol for target practice or a novice hunter looking for a dependable handgun to carry in the backcountry, the Smith & Wesson M&P45 is capable of meeting the needs of a variety of settings.

Despite its muted appearance, the M&P45 packs a lot of firepower. It is a .45 Caliber semi-automatic pistol that has ten rounds of armor-piercing ammunition in a single magazine. That gives you plenty of stopping power in case of an emergency. It has an effective trigger pull that is both fast and light (only 5.5 pounds), allowing you to make rapid follow-up shots with ease. The trigger also has an adjustable length of pull that allows you to customize the M&P45 to your specific needs and preferences. The gun is constructed from matte black polymer, making it both lightweight and durable. Additionally, the gun has a Picatinny rail to easily add accessories such as a flashlight, laser sight, or even a camera.

The Smith & Wesson M&P45 also has a few features that make it especially attractive to experienced firearms owners. The gun has an ambidextrous magazine release and a reversible magazine well for easy magazine swaps on either side, an important feature for left-handed shooters. Additionally, the gun has a slide stop lever that sticks up so you can easily disengage the slide with your thumb when taking it out of battery. This eliminates the need for awkward thumb-over-slide maneuvers. The gun also has an excellent trigger reset for quick follow-up shots and holster compatibility with competitive shooting organizations.

I personally found the Smith & Wesson M&P45 to be an excellent shooter for several reasons. The gun was comfortable in my hands and felt good in my grasp. The recoil was manageable and the accuracy was good for a handgun of this size. Additionally, the gun was a dream to clean and keep up in the field. The manual safety was easy to engage with my thumb and the slide release was easy to access with my trigger finger. The M&P45 was also easy to strip and reassemble, making it an excellent choice for gun owners who want to practice on their own and keep up with their gun.

One of the main reasons I chose the Smith & Wesson M&P45was the amazing value I got out of it. The gun was a trade-in from a local gun shop and I was able to get an excellent deal on it. It was easy to clean and well cared for, so I didn’t have to worry about excessive wear or malfunctioning parts. I asked around at the gun shop and got the okay from the gunsmith to inspect it before making the purchase. He took down the gun and took a look at it and was impressed with its condition. It was clear that the weapon had been handled with care and had been properly maintained.

Overall, the Smith & Wesson M&P45 was an enjoyable shooting experience and I have continued to use it as a reliable and dependable companion in the field. I find myself reaching for this handgun more often than not. It is accurate, durable, and reliable, and is an excellent all-around firearm for personal protection or shooting on the range. The adjustable length of pull and reversible magazine well make the gun more easily accessible and comfortable for left-handed shooters. Additionally, the trade-in value puts it at a price point that is hard to beat. If you are looking for an excellent shooting experience, the Smith & Wesson M&P45 is an excellent choice.
