LS LADYSMITH
Smith & Wesson’s 60LS LadySmith is an excellent revolver for new or continuing shooters looking for a solid firearm that will still provide a classic experience. Right off the bat, it is immediately noticeable how the 60LS LadySmith is an attractive and unique revolver. The all-stainless steel construction complemented by a black rubber Monogrip gives the revolver a unique and solid feel. With fixed sights, 4-screw frame with a full-lug barrel, and a heavy weight of just over 2lbs, the 60LS LadySmith feels solid in the hand.
The revolver itself is .38 Special or .357 Magnum caliber with a 6-round capacity. As a bonus, it comes with an additional .38 Special cylinder for true caliber versatility. The barrel of the revolver is 3-inch long, providing decent accuracy at close to mid-range, and the overall length of the revolver is 7.5 inches.
The trigger on the 60LS LadySmith is incredibly smooth and light, making it easy to maintain good accuracy, especially when shooting rapid fire. The trigger pull is incredibly consistent, meaning that the shooter’s muscle memory will get even better with time. To top it off, the gun is capable of both single and double-action fire. Double-action fire is also very manageable, allowing for an acceptable rate of fire.
The 60LS LadySmith also comes with the original Smith & Wesson Internal Lock. This internal lock can be easily accessed from the Left-side of the revolver, and is a great way to secure the revolver and add an additional layer of safety.
When it comes to accuracy, the 60LS LadySmith is top-notch. The gun is very easy to control and can easily be used to accurately fire up to 20 continuous shots with extreme consistency. The recoil of the gun is significantly lessened with the addition of the full-lug barrel. This leads to much easier follow-up shot placement. At mid-range and in good outdoor lighting, I was never able to miss by more than a couple of inches at the most.
In terms of ammo, the 60LS LadySmith primarily uses .38 Special. However, I was easily able to fire both .38 special and .357 magnum ammunition through the gun without any issues. It is important to note that accuracy with .357 magnum ammo might not be as consistent at close range because of the extra power.
If you plan on carrying the 60LS LadySmith for self-defense, I don’t have any reservations. The revolver is powerful enough to serve as an effective self-defense weapon, but I would not recommend using it in anything other than a home or close-quarters setting. However, the 3-inch barrel on the revolver gives it enough portability to be considered a useful self-defense tool.
Overall, the Smith & Wesson 60LS LadySmith is an excellent revolver for new or continuing shooters. With its distinctive styling, reliable construction, and easy to learn trigger, the 60LS LadySmith will fill any shooter’s needs. The revolver is incredibly accurate at both short and long range, and the caliber versatility will make it a great choice for anyone. The lightweight and secure design make it excellent for self-defense, and the internal locking system provides safe storage. It’s clear to see why the Smith & Wesson 60LS LadySmith is such a popular choice among beginning and continuing shooters.
