The Ruger MK IV 22/45 Lite is an incredibly well-balanced and reliable handgun that shows why Ruger has had a successful history in firearm design. It’s a lightweight, accurate, and easy to maintain pistol that would be ideal for target shooting, plinking, or even self-defense in a pinch. The MK IV is an upgrade of the popular Ruger 22/45 pistol, and it makes some significant improvements to what was already an excellent package.
Let’s start with the design of the MK IV. It features a one-piece anodized aluminum frame with an integral Picatinny rail, making accessories easy to affix and detach. I have more than 1000 rounds through my MK IV without a single misfire or malfunction, and I have no doubt that this firearm will perform for many more. That said, the MK IV does have a few quirks. For one, the trigger pull is quite heavy and requires some time to get used to and master. That said, the ride on this pistol is incredibly smooth and predictable, which puts it a step above many other semi-automatics on the market today.
The MK IV also features a number of user-friendly features that make it appealing to both novice and experienced shooters. For instance, the takedown pin requires no tools or special techniques, and the barrel and receiver come right off with a simple pull and twist. This makes cleaning and maintenance a breeze. The MK IV also has an ambidextrous safety selector which makes it easy to access, and a loaded-chamber indicator is also present. The MK IV also comes with a Picatinny rail for accessory compatibility.
Overall, the Ruger MK IV 22/45 Lite is an outstanding firearm. It offers great ergonomics, accuracy, and reliability, and the simplicity of its design makes maintaining it a breeze. The price tag on the MK IV is quite reasonable as well, making it a great option for target shooters, plinkers, and even novice shooters. All in all, it’s easy to see why the Ruger MK IV has legions of enthusiasts. It’s a great firearm that’s sure to provide years of shooting enjoyment.
