The ROMARM/CUGIR DRACO (Romanian/Chinese General Imported Rifle) is the first of its kind on the American market. It is the result of a joint effort between two state-owned companies from Romania and China. This rifle is designed to bring an Eastern European and Chinese flavor to the AR-15 platform, which is a big part of the gun’s appeal. Many AR-15 owners are looking to stand out among the rest with a unique firearm purchase.

The first thing that stands out about the DRACO is its construction. This is a rifle with a forged aluminum upper and lower receiver. This is not the typical M4-style receiver that is generally utilized for production AR-15 rifles. This adds some strength and durability to the rifle, as it makes it more resistant to bending and warping.

The DRACO also comes with features such as a left-side charging handle, rear-mounted safety selector switch, and released bolt catch. All of these features are departures from the M4-style of AR-15 styling, and help to separate the DRACO from the rest of the pack.

The barrel of the DRACO is 16.5 inches long and has a chrome-lined bore and chamber, making it an excellent choice for those looking for a mid-length gas system AR-15. It also has a very nice flash suppressor that comes with the gun, which also helps to separate it from the rest. The DRACO’s muzzle device also helps to contribute to its overall attractiveness, as it has a very unique look to it.

Aside from its aesthetics, the DRACO is a very nice shooting gun as well. With its mid-length gas system, the gun does a good job at staying on target for long strings of fire. The buffer tube that comes on the gun is a mil-spec buffer tube, but it can be changed out with any other standard mil-spec buffer tube for those looking to upgrade.

One issue that I do have with the DRACO is the lack of aftermarket parts. This is due to the fact that it is not a common platform in North America, so there is not a large market for aftermarket parts. This may not be a problem for some, but it might cause issue for those who are wanting to take their DRACO to the next level.

All in all, the ROMARM/CUGIR DRACO is an excellent rifle. It combines both Eastern European and Chinese characteristics in terms of its design, construction, and features. It is a great rifle for those who are looking for something a bit different than the traditional M4-style AR-15. Plus, it is an excellent shooter as well, with its mid-length gas system helping to keep the gun on target during long strings of fire. The lack of aftermarket parts may be an issue for some, but that should not keep anyone from then enjoy the DRACO for what it is - an excellent rifle.
