Daniel Defense’s DD5 V4 is a fantastic rifle that deserves all the praise it’s received. Somewhere between an AR-15 and an AR-10, the DD5 V4 is chambered in 7.62x51mm for increased power and accuracy, and a host of other features make it an incredibly well-rounded firearm.

The V4 comes with a cold hammer forged 16” barrel made of stainless steel. The twist rate is 1:10, making it accurate even at long range and with heavy grain bullets. The barrel length in general is perfect for an all-purpose rifle. The shorter length decreases recoil and keeps the muzzle down while still retaining the accuracy of longer barrels. It also has a SureFire ProComp 556 muzzle brake for increased muzzle control and reducing the felt recoil.

The receiver is constructed from aircraft grade aluminum and features a large integral trigger guard. This allows for quicker trigger access and manipulation when in a prone or similar shooting position. The receiver is also designed to accept both KeyMod and M-LOK accessories, so you can easily add rails and other components to customize the firearm.

The DD5 V4 also features an adjustable gas block, allowing for adjustable gas flow and pressure based on the ammunition type and desired performance. This allows you the maximum opportunity to customize and tune your rifle, allowing you to get the most out of it. I personally have had zero issues with misfires, jams, or any other malfunctions—even running a variety of different ammunition types. This is even more impressive considering how heavy the rifle is (around 9.4lbs). The free-floated barrel helps minimize barrel movement when firing, allowing you to get every bit of accuracy possible out of the rifle. The ambidextrous features were also a nice touch, making it comfortable for both right and left handed shooters.

When it comes to accuracy, the DD5 V4 is as good as it gets. I can easily hit targets out to 500 yards with the factory iron sights, and at 100 yards I can consistently hit small steel plates with zero issue. The long 16” barrel and twist rate allows for longer distances and heavier grain bullets, depending on the application.

Overall, the DD5 V4 is a top-notch precision rifle. It’s incredibly accurate, reliable, and offers a ton of features normally found in much more expensive firearms. It’s designed to defend but also performs well and looks great. Whether you’re a tactical shooter, competitive marksman, or hunter, the Daniel Defense DD5 V4 is definitely worth considering.
