It's hard to deny that the company has made countless legendary firearms during its tenure, and their New Agent Lightweight “100 Years of Service Edition” is no exception.
The Colt New Agent Lightweight is a single-action, semi-automatic pistol manufactured in the United States from high quality materials for over a century. It was designed to be a lightweight, compact, concealable handgun that would meet the strictest quality control standards. From the looks of it, they certainly succeeded.
The first thing that you'll notice about the Colt New Agent Lightweight is its small size. It's just 6.5” tall, 5.5” long, and a mere 1.5” wide. This makes it an ideal concealed carry handgun, as it can easily fit in the smallest of pockets. It also weighs just 24.7 ounces empty, which is exceptionally light for an all-metal firearm.
The construction of the New Agent Lightweight is quite robust. The frame is constructed from machined aluminum alloy. This provides a strong yet lightweight platform for the slide and barrel. The slide is made from stainless steel, and the barrel is also made from stainless steel. On the range, the Colt New Agent Lightweight proved to be incredibly accurate and reliable. We tested both standard-velocity and +P loads, and the pistol performed flawlessly with both. Recoil was noticeable, but not excessive, and the pistol's light weight made follow-up shots easy to manage. At 25 yards, we were consistently able to get 2-inch groups using our test ammunition.
Overall, we were extremely pleased with the performance of the Colt New Agent Lightweight “100 Years of Service” edition. It is an incredibly well made, reliable, lightweight, and accurate handgun. It would make an excellent choice for concealed carry, personal defense, or even a fun range gun. It is no wonder why Colt has been the go-to brand for law enforcement and military use for decades – they just keep making great guns.
