The Armscor/Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical II is one of the most widely available 1911 pistols available on the market today, and for good reason. It doesn’t sacrifice quality for affordability, and the dependability of this 1911 make it a great all-around choice for self-defense, competitive shooting, and even just plinking. Systematically, the RIA 1911 Tactical II is crafted to meet the tough standards set by the US Military, and each firearm is finely crafted in the Philippines. Packed full of features, the 1911 Tactical II offers reliability, affordability and good looks to boot.

Starting with the construction of the firearm, the RIA 1911 Tactical II is built to the same standards as any other 1911. The gun is crafted from 4140 steel, providing ample strength and a long-life, even with continued use. The steel frame has been beautifully polished to a deep black finish which won’t show signs of wear after years of use, while the remainder of the gun is finished with an even, muted matte grey which also won’t scratch or chip. The tactical II is equipped with a full-length dust cover, reducing the likelihood of debris entering the gun’s internal biome, and allowing for the attachment of accessories such as light mounts or lasers. Additionally, the 1911 Tactical II features a full-length 8-round magazine, allowing for a capacity of 8+1 rounds of .45ACP ammunition, enough for most applications.

The RIA 1911 Tactical II is incredibly easy to use. It has a single-action, hammer-cocked trigger which provides a smooth, crisp break for very accurate shooting. The trigger pull on the Tactical II is 4lbs 8oz, making it easy to fire without accidentally pulling the trigger constantly. Additionally, the trigger is adjustable, allowing the shooter to adjust the tension and weight of the trigger pull to their personal preference. The 1911 Tactical II also includes three-dot sights, providing for fast target acquisition in all lighting and tactical conditions. The sights are mounted to full-length steel dovetail slots, allowing for adjustments and replacement should the need arise. The tactical II also features an extended beavertail which helps to prevent hammer bite and improves the overall grip on the firearm.

The 1911 Tactical II is also equipped with an ambidextrous manual safety and an enlarged beavertail that makes it easier to manipulate the manual safety. As mentioned, the safety is also completely ambidextrous, making it easier to operate the weapon when using either hand and ideal for left-handed shooters. The safety does not need to be disengaged in order to fire the firearm, though it is highly recommended to keep the safety on at all times until ready for use. The weapon also features a full-length guide rod and a flat mainspring housing, as well as a grip safety. The grip safety helps to prevent accidental discharges should the firearm be dropped.

For those looking for an all-around 1911, the RIA 1911 Tactical II is an excellent choice. Its construction is of top-notch quality, and the craftsmanship of the weapon is of the highest caliber. All of the features provided on the Tactical II make it an ideal choice for concealed carry, open carry, home defense, and even competition shooting. It is reliable, accurate, and consistent in performance, and its affordability make it ideal for those on a tight budget. The Tactical II is an excellent firearm, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a reliable, affordable 1911.
